A RENAISSANCE FOR THE SIDELINED
Often universal design aspects are the last elements to be considered when designing an architectural environment. Spanning three years from conceptualization, this is my architectural thesis that promotes a holistically & universally designed campus of adaptive arts.

With three years in conception, my architectural thesis had been one that I had brooded over quite a lot – with many case study conducted and numerous discourses conducted – this project had been a strenuous yet open-ended journey for me that began with question the built environment and architecture trends as they happen to be – a simple question as to whether or not the places that we build are inclusive from the get-go, offering a place of equity for any and every user? Quite simply put, the answer is no and it is quite fair to say that the idea of universality and inclusion get swallowed up in strenuous building norms and trends and money crunches that occur in span of conceptualizing a building to execution thereby isolating those users that do not fit the ‘standard’ mould of a person – it begs the question who are the standard people when our bodies and minds diverge so drastically across geography! The Alternate University of Adaptive Arts or the titular. ‘Renaissance for the Sidelined’ was my way of questioning and also simultaneously summarizing five and half years of learning into a project to the best of my abilities to create a space that allows students and caregivers to practice adaptive arts regardless of the any normative physical inhibition resulting in a boundless environment raised on the principle of equity.
