Competition Entry for DOCExDOCE
2020 Common Era
This project emerged from a 54-hour architectural competition hosted by DOCExDOCE, centered on the theme of Dupli-cature – an ongoing architectural issue prevalent in China where urban expansion mirrors the designs of many cities worldwide. This practice compromises China's rich cultural heritage. The assigned site was Tianducheng, a city modeled after Paris. Due to its lack of cultural authenticity and familiarity, attempts to attract residents have failed, leading to its status as an urban ghost town. Our project was shortlisted among the top 40 for the Audience Special Award. The tasks included background research, design analysis, concept development, morphology, graphics, and presentation. The primary focus was on the cultural and economic revitalization of Tianducheng.
